Current Score
Mostly Indian (Key Imports)
Our Verdict: The Harrier is mostly built in India. Tata owns the petrol engine design and licensed the diesel engine from Fiat/Stallantis, giving Tata full control over tuning it locally. The main imported parts are the automatic gearboxes, which come from Hyundai Transys (South Korea) for the diesel and Aisin (Japan) for the petrol, as well as driver-assist computer chips from Mobileye.
How it's Sourced: The Harrier is put together in Pune using Indian steel. Its petrol engine is manufactured entirely at Tata's factory in Sanand, Gujarat. By acquiring the rights to the diesel engine from Stellantis in 2025, Tata can now tune the engine's software in India. Automatic gearboxes are imported from Japan and South Korea, and the driver-assist system uses global software.
